Which is better a screen printed decal or a
flexographic decal (roll label)? It
depends on your application, if you need a decal that is used
outdoors and looking for at least a 2-3 year life span. Screen
printing is the only option, with screen printing we use a heavy
pigmented ink vs. flexo printing which uses a dye based ink. Any ink
or paint that made to last outside is pigment-based, like the paint
on your car is a heavy pigmented paint. The pigmented ink
coupled with the screen printing process where we deposit 50 times
more ink than flexo creates a very durable image. We've all seen the
bumper stickers or decals where the red is faded out or completely
missing, that's a flexo print. And this normally happens
within the first 60 days of outdoor exposure. |

Why does a screen printed decal cost more than
a flexo decal? Two main reasons. One is
production, flexo printing is a faster process than screen printing,
produced on a roll. The other is cost of materials. Screen
printing (pigmented) inks cost a lot more than flexo inks and we use
more of it the printing process. Also the decal materials for
screen printing cost more due the fact there is a heavier paper
liner (the backing sheet), this heavy liner keeps the individual
finished decal flat. |

| Why
should I use vinyl for my Shelf Talkers isn't paper cheaper?
Vinyl is the only
material we use for shelf talkers, some other company try to get
away with a paper stock with a laminate on it. This type of
construction is no way equal to vinyl, just a slight amount of
pressure on the neck of the shelf talker will result in crease and
the shelf talker will drop and hang like a dead leaf. Once the paper
is creased it will never stand up again. |
|
| How
thick of vinyl should I use?
About 97% of all our
shelf talkers are printed .010" vinyl also known as 10-mil vinyl.
